ITINERARY

SAT 5 AUG – JOHANNESBURG – ABU DHABI

Get ready for a holiday of a lifetime when we check in this morning at 8.00 am and depart Johannesburg International Airport at 9.45 am on Etihad Airways Flight EY 604 non-stop to Abu Dhabi. Enjoy the on board service and entertainment provided by the Award Winning Airline which is owned by the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi..

On arrival in Abu Dhabi we will be met and transferred to the city for an overnight stay.

SUN 6 AUG – ABU DHABI- BEIRUT

After Breakfast we leave the hotel “bags and all” for the Airport where on arrival we check in for Flight EY 111 leaving for Beirut at 12.45 pm.

Arrive Beirut International Airport at 3.30 pm where we will be met, assisted through Passport Control and Customs by a representative of Elite Travel, then transferred to the

Where accommodation has been reserved and which will be our home for the next 12 days. Both Jean and Ghassan Beyrouthy will be on hand to make our stay a very pleasant one.

This evening we meet at 7.30 pm and will be transferred to Abou Samir Restaurant for a Welcome Dinner.

MON 7 AUG – HARISSA – ANNAYA - BYBLOS

After breakfast we board our luxury coach for a full-day tour of Harissa, where we may have the opportunity of attending Mass then climb the steps to the top of the Grotto of Our Lady. Continue to Annaya where St. Charbel lived almost all his life. Drive down to Byblos reputed to be the oldest inhabited city and where the alphabet was given to the world. Nearby the Port are extensive excavated remains of the City’s past which stretch from the Stone Age to the Crusader era. We have lunch in Byblos before returning to the Hotel.

TUE 8 AUG – MOUNIR RESTAURANT

After a day at leisure we will be fetched from our Hotel at 8.00 pm for a visit to the mountain town of Broummana. Thereafter we will have Dinner at the Mounir Restaurant which is known to be the best in Lebanon.

WED 9 AUG – JOUNIEH

Day at leisure to relax or should you want to revisit Harissa there is a Cable Car ride to the top, from where there is a Panoramic View of the Bay of Jounieh.

THUR 10 AUG – CEDARS – BCHARRE – SEBHEL - TRIPOLI

Very early departure from hotel for the Cedars of Lebanon, mentioned several times in the Bible, some more than 2000 years old. It is believed that some of them even date back to the time when King Solomon had a part of the forest cut down to build his temple in Jerusalem. The Cedar tree, majestic and indestructible, is the emblem of Lebanon and adorns its flag. The village of the Cedars, 2000 metres in altitude, is a very picturesque ski resort with Hotels, Chalets and Ski lifts. On the way down we stop in Bcharre, have lunch, then on to Ehden, Sebhel and Tripoli, for a short visit before returning to the Hotel.

FRI 11 AUG – BAALBEK

This morning we leave the Hotel early and drive through the panoramic Lebanese Mountain to the Bekaa Valley and on to Baalbek where our English-speaking Guide will take us through these famous Roman Ruins which encompasses the Temples of Bechus, Venus and Jupiter. On our way back to the hotel we stop at Al Rifai the famous sweet and nut shop.

SAT 12 AUG – DINNER AND BELLY DANCING SHOW

Day at leisure to relax or to do some shopping – This evening we “dress up” and will be fetched from our hotel at 9.00 pm for a Mystery Destination where we have Dinner and enjoy a Belly Dancing Show. Thereafter, those who still have energy, will be dropped off at the Casino du Liban.

SUN 13 AUG – JEITA CAVES - BEIRUT

After breakfast we depart Hotel for a short drive to Dog River where we stop to see inscriptions, carved on the Rocks, dating back to the periods of the Egyptian Pharaohs, Assyrian Kings and Roman Emperors. Resume drive to Jeita Grotto, one of the world’s most beautiful, where we see the vast wealth of Stalactites and Stalagmites. We continue on to Beirut for Lunch, then a short visit of the City, before returning to the Hotel.

MON 14 AUG – BEITEDDIN, SIDON AND TYRE

After Breakfast our tour starts with a visit to Beiteddin, Palace of Emir Bechir then the Sea Castle in Sidon. Lunch is served in a restaurant in Tyre. In the afternoon we visit the Necropolis and sea sites of Tyre before returning to the hotel.

TUES 15 AUG – JOUNIEH

Today being the Feast Day of the Assumption of our Lady you may wish to visit Harissa and take part in the Festivities.

WED 16 AUG – FAREWELL DINNER

Day at leisure to meet friends and family. This evening we will be taken to the Al Sayadin Sea Food Restaurant for our Farewell Dinner and Entertainment which will be provided by the Layoun 3 Piece Band.

THURS 17 AUG - JOUNIEH

Day at leisure to relax and do last minute shopping.

FRI 18 AUG – BEIRUT – ABU DHABI

After a morning at leisure we depart the Hotel “bags and all” for Beirut International Airport where we board Etihad Airways Flight EY 112 leaving for Abu Dhabi at 5.00 pm. On arrival we remain in transit.

SAT 19 AUG – ABU DHABI -JOHANNESBURG

Depart on Etihad Airways Flight EY603 leaving at 1.30 am and arrive back in Johannesburg at 8.00 am..

TOUR INFORMATION

EXTENSION OF HOLIDAY
- this can be arranged subject to seats being available for your return flight.

AIR TICKETS
– Kindly note that once travel has commenced, the return portion of the air ticket cannot be changed. Also no unused portion of the tour or ticket is refundable.

PASSPORT
– Please ensure that your passport is valid and that there are no Israeli stamps in it.

INSURANCE
- It is advisable to take out a Travel Insurance Policy before departure and the details of our group policy are as follows:-

COVER
– Medical Expenses – R10 million;
Cancellation Costs – R15 000,00;
Loss of Baggage – R5 000,00;
Personal Accident – R50 000,00.

MEDICAL CLAIMS EXCESSES
– 65 years or younger R350,00; 66 years and over R1000,00.

COST OF INSURANCE
– R210 per person.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
– The travel allowances are:
R160 000,00 per adult and R50 000,00 per child, less R6 000,00 which has been prepaid by Cumming Travel on your behalf for hotel accommodation, tours, etc. For the balance of your allowance you should purchase the maximum amount of cash Dollars. We can assist you with ordering your Foreign Currency.

CREDIT CARD
– To enable you to benefit from free insurance offered by the Credit Card Companies, arrangements have been made whereby an amount of R5 000,00 per person only can be charged to your Credit Card. The balance of the Tour Price must be paid in cash or by cheque before the 30 June 2006.

CLOTHING
– Bring all summer clothes; swimming costume, hat and comfortable walking shoes. Men will not be needing suits, but a jacket and tie for the Casino is necessary.

TIPPING
– This has not been included in the Tour Price, so if you receive a good service from Tour Guides, Bus Drivers, Hotel Staff etc., we suggest you show your gratitude.

BAGGAGE
– The checked baggage allowance on International Airlines is 20 kgs per person. In addition one item of carry-on luggage is permitted. Should these luggage limits be exceeded, additional baggage charges will result.
